On November 12, the Military Ministry of Messiah United Methodist Church demonstrated what authentic, heartfelt service looks like. At their most recent Pack, Pray, Eat event, Cook For Vets was selected as the featured nonprofit—an honor that filled us with gratitude and renewed purpose.
The event was beautifully organized by Ruth Lapointe and Joanne Randa, two dedicated leaders, as well as Cook For Vets volunteers whose passion for serving Veterans continues to inspire others. Their guidance brought together people of all ages and backgrounds united by a shared goal: to make a meaningful impact on the Veterans and households supported by Cook For Vets.
Throughout the evening, volunteers packed up nutritious snacks and baked goods, shared prayers of hope, and enjoyed company as they carried out an act of service to serve those who have served our nation. These moments—simple, powerful, and heartfelt—reflect what community truly means.
To Ruth, Joanne, and every attendee: THANK YOU. Your willingness to show up, give back, and support our Veterans embodies the spirit of compassion that drives Cook For Vets forward. Your collective efforts serve as a reminder that it truly takes an army to carry out this mission—and that is exactly what we are building.
Every person who contributes, whether through time, effort, donations, or kindness, plays a vital role in ensuring that Veterans feel seen, cared for, and nourished. Together, we are making a lasting difference—one act of service at a time.
